Stuff

Date June 26, 2008

I have been working through a marathon training program (not that I am running a marathon - I simply want to challenge my body) - and I just got in from my run, and I can’t stand the thought of writing anything that requires citations. Hence the following stuff:

1) If you’re flying this summer, ‘pet’ your flight attendants. And by ‘pet’ - I do not mean touch (unless you’re very confident of your hot factor - then touch all you want! - uh, speaking for myself, of course) - ‘pet’ = say something encouraging - as summer flying, especially in light of fuel prices and load factors, is a very rough time for flight attendants (usually junior reserves, like myself, who cannot hold a summer vacation). I will write a post about flight attendant politics soon.

2) The songs I liked the most on today’s run = Katy Perry’s If You Can Afford Me and Hot N Cold - and I was really into - on this run - Dolly Parton’s Jesus and Gravity. I usually really like Rihanna’s Take a Bow and Chris Brown’s Forever, as well. I am not sure why I am shy to admit it, but I have been getting into The Pussycat Dolls’ When I Grow Up. It’s catchy.

3) I am calling for YOUR stories. As many of you know, it is Pride Month - the commemoration of the Stonewall Inn Riots - June 28, 1969. I want to invite you to write:

1) On how you changed your mind about LGBT folk - that is, we would love to hear what theological, personal, etc. changes occurred for you to help you move from being a homo-hater to a homo-lover.

2) For those of you who are big homos, we would love to have you submit your coming out (or not) stories.

300-800 words is probably about what people can stand to read (trust me, I write more and no one reads what I write). Send a brief bio and pic, as well. You can find an example of a guest writer submission here

E-mail us and let us know if you’re interested.

4) Matt and I are recording the 6th podcast tomorrow morning. We will be discussing gay marriage…oooooooooh.

My favorite Betty moments:

5) Matt and I are attending this conference. Join us!

6) And don’t forget to check Adam’s writing - he is writing the Presbyterian GA - here @ the Presbyterian Outlook.
