The Podcast - Episode 2
May 2, 2008
Below you will find episode 2 of the podcast. This is a long one…b.c we have too much fun discussing the issues: What does ‘gay’ mean? Can one be a hetero (and I refer to the caller’s boyfriend as gay…so I am correcting myself), soccer playing, Jesus-loving-jock and enjoy premarital sex (AKA a Dan Savage moment)? And is it possible to derive a sexual ethics from, in part, the sexual behaviors of gay males?
Several resources are used in this cast:
Ronald E. Long’s essay, ‘The Sacrality of Male Beauty and Homosex: A Neglected Understanding of Contemporary Gay Reality’ in Que(e)rying Religion: A Critical Anthology, eds. Gary David Comstock and Susan E. Henking (New York: Continuum , 1999): 266-328.
The Savage Love Podcast - episode 66. You can find Dan Savage’s podcast on iTunes.
Kathy Rudy’s Sex and the Church: Gender, Homosexuality, and the Transformation of Christian Ethics (Boston: Beacon Press, 1997).
